This is a sort-of public service message, and I expect that it will at least be of service to my future self. Since I am now an absent-minded professor, I lost my cell phone when I was at JSM. So I got a new one today (thus following the advice my department head gave me when he saw the cracked screen on my old phone a month ago). And since it’s new and shiny, I started playing around and decided to make it check my university email, calendar, etc.
This is all easy, provided you know the magic settings, which are not recorded anywhere (yet).Ā I’ll write down precisely what it should be for someone with UW username “your_username”.Ā Just replace that with “abie” if you’re me, or something appropriate if you’re not.

Search engines, please index this so I can find it next time I’m looking for “UW email on android”, thanks.
Oooh, which phone did you get?
oh, it’s last year’s hot toy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywxN4Fs5XAQ but it’s new to me.
Physical keyboard??? What is this, 2007? š
Looks like it’s getting the Android 2.2 update, so it can still hang with the cool kids!
I wonder where wordpress thinks I am right now? It’s 9:30am where I actually am, 9:00pm where my computer clock is set, and wordpress says I’m posting at 4:00am.
I’ve often wondered where wordpress thinks it is. Greenwich, maybe?
As for my phone, and it’s keyboard: http://lastyearsmodel.org/

Ah, good call, Sri Lanka is GMT +5.5.
In my defense, I still have the original iPhone (2007!) š
